Spain

sweet escapes

After seemingly endless weeks of rain, clouds and people groaning about the clouds and the rain, summer arrived and the last two weeks we could finally bitch about the inhuman 37°C  that made doing anything else then hiding in the shadows (preferable at a lake) and eating our own bodyweight in ice-cream suicidal.

my hiding place

But that’s Austrian weather for you – it first tries to drown you, then burn you to a crisp. But the heat was a lovely preparation for the last “big” trip this year: Mallorca.

I’ve already been to this beautiful island and I’m looking very much forward to spend some time there again: The landscape is stunning, the food gorgeous (hot chocolate, ensaimades) and the people speak Spanish (take that, Romania!). While I’ll find out just how far my Spanish will get me, there will be lots of gorgeous pictures (not only of food, I promise) for you guys and of course exciting adventures as I meet the local geckos and discover just how much of my stuff I left at home. Also, I probably will get lost while I try to find my Mallorca favourite.

About enjirux

I'm a twenty-something female who moved from Austria to Scotland in 2009. Formally addicted to coffee, the UK has turned me into a bit of a tea snob and made me discover lots of wonderful things, e.g. pies. While I love to do a lot of things like writing, taking pictures, baking, traveling and spending days lazing about, my current pay checks says language teacher and will continue to say so until 2013 where there will be no pay check but dust and snakes as I'll venture into Asia. But that's still quite some time away and meanwhile I'll share my thoughts and worries and pictures of pies and short trips with you while gleefully butchering the English language.
